Benfica confirm ACL injury as Lara Martins ruled out for the season

Benfica have confirmed that Lara Martins has suffered a serious knee injury and will miss the rest of the 2025/26 season. The club said in a statement that she sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury to her right knee.

She will undergo surgery shortly, then follow a full rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department.

The club described a long road ahead and stressed the squad’s support for Martins as she begins her recovery.

This season she has made 19 appearances for Benfica, seven in the Liga BPI, five in the Women’s Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and three in the Taça da Liga.

Across 608 minutes on the pitch she has scored two goals and provided three assists.

Benfica were eliminated by Torreense.
