Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko has had his issues since joining the club from Red Bull Leipzig.

Sesko made the switch to Old Trafford as part of an expensive new attacking trio, alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

Slow start

The Slovenian has shown his worth at times but at others, he has looked a little lost at Premier League level.

The 22 year old is still young and has plenty of time to discover his form but his statistics do not make the best reading.

The tall forwards has only found the back of the net twice in 12 matches this season.

Sesko was brought on as a substitute away to Tottenham Hotspur and missed a glorious chance to put United ahead when put through one-on-one.

Shortly after, he was subbed off with an apparent knee injury in which Ruben Amorim was left unsure about the severity.

Consequently, the player has withdrawn from upcoming international duty for Slovenia, where he was scheduled to play against Kosovo and Sweden in World Cup qualifying.

Manager anger

Slovenia manager Matjaz Kek has not been best impressed with United’s handling of the injury of their star man.

The Daily Mail reports, that Kek believes that himself and the Slovenian medical team have been kept in the dark over the injury.

United have a different side of the story however, claiming that all necessary documentation has been sent, something the Slovenian FA confirmed later in the day.

Commenting on the issue, Kek said, “with all due respect to a great club like Manchester United, we have officially not received anything yet; no papers, no documents.”

He added, “we would certainly like to get them. We want our medical team to also take a look at it. Our doctor is an expert in this field. We don’t have just anyone in this position. I cannot comment, of course I have certain information, and I am also in contact with Beni, of course.”

Kek also claimed he was only concerned about the well-being of Sesko.

The manager stated that, “we are prepared to do everything for that, and we have never sent anyone onto the field if there was the slightest risk. However, the national team is something very special, and I expect maximum respect from everyone. Slovenia deserves that, even if on the other side there is a powerhouse like England, and something as extraordinary as the Premier League.”

United sources believe the injury to Sesko is not that serious and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be fit for the club when they return to action against Everton on Monday 24th November.
