During an interview last night with AS, Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema made it clear that he wanted to put an end to rumors circulating on social media in recent days about an alleged conflict with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. These speculations surfaced after what was perceived as a cold exchange between the two players during the Al-Nassr vs. Al-Ittihad clash in the King’s Cup on October 28.

The former French international opened up by declaring: "My relationship with Cristiano is not cold, as some claim. We don’t need to show everything in front of the cameras."

He went on: "We talked in the dressing room. We hugged, we spoke… And then, on the pitch, we can’t, or rather, we shouldn’t have to do it all over again."

The 37-year-old former French international also emphasized: "There is immense respect between Cristiano and me. Everything is going very well. We learned a lot from each other during our years at Real Madrid, and that respect remains intact."

Benzema concluded emphatically: "Sometimes, it feels like we’re obliged to say or do things on TV. That’s not the case. We have a lot of respect for each other. We see each other on the pitch and each of us focuses on his own game."
