Bernardo Silva has hailed City's display in the 5-2 FIFA Club World Cup victory over Juventus as our best performance in the competition so far.

Pep Guardiola's men overcame Wydad AC 2-0 and were 6-0 victors over Al-Ain in our opening two games, and cruised into a ninth minute lead in Orlando through Jeremy Doku, before Teun Koopmeiners levelled two minutes later for Juventus.

Pierre Kalulu turned into his own net to put us back ahead, before further goals from Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Savinho, followed by a late consolation from Dusan Vlahovic, saw us coast into the last-16 as Group G winners, scoring 13 times and only conceding twice.

"We’re very happy with what we did today," said an overjoyed Bernardo Silva after the game. "Against a top team as well, we managed to control the game and keep the ball.

"Apart from the little mistakes we made individually, it was probably the best performance that we’ve had in this tournament. We qualified first in the group and we’re very happy."It’s just another win. It’s an important win because it makes us qualify first. I don’t know if it’s a statement win or not. It’s three points. We’re happy to be in the United States and to have qualified for the last-16.

"We’re in this tournament to win and we’re one step closer to that goal. And now we will watch the games to see who will be our next opponent.

"We have a big squad, especially in this tournament and hopefully for the season. The impact that these players have had has been massive. Once again the guys who came from the bench helped us a lot. You need everyone to be successful."

The victory saw Spanish midfielder Rodri make his first start for City since last September after his anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Ballon d'Or winner made substitute appearances in each of our previous group victories against Wydad AC and Al Ain, and Bernardo stressed the importance of having him back in the team ahead of the knockout rounds.

"I don’t need to talk about Rodri. His career speaks for itself," he declared. "He’s really important for us.

"Hopefully he can get his fitness better and better to be back and to be at his best form because we really need him obviously.

"It’s all good [topping the group] but it doesn't count much because now it’s kill or be killed.

"We have to be ready for this next stage of important games. We’re going to prepare well."
