Rovers have recruited four new faces so far this summer, and are now keen on bolstering their front line following the departures of Andi Weimann and Tyrhys Dolan.

Nkada is linked after impressing in the French second tier last term with 17 goals, and FLW's Blackburn Fan Pundit Simon hopes the club can get a deal over the line.

Blackburn: Interest in impressive French forward

As per a report from The Sun, Blackburn are set to rival Derby and QPR for the signing of Rodez striker Timothe Nkada.

The 26-year-old Frenchman netted 17 times and provided five assists in Ligue 2 last season, finishing the term as the joint-second top scorer as Rodez finished 14th.

It is believed that Nkada is available for a transfer this summer, with a £2.2 million fee set to prize him away from the south of France.

"An interesting signing" - Claim made on potential Blackburn-Nkada deal

"It is definitely an interesting signing," said Simon when asked whether a deal for Nkada is something he would be excited about. "He is someone who looks like he knows where the back of the net is."

Simon went on to emphasise how ruthlessness in the final third is something that Rovers missed last term: "Last season, I think we missed that consistent goalscorer."

Yuki Ohashi finished as Rovers' top scorer last term with nine Championship goals, while Tyrhys Dolan and Andi Weimann provided seven each, though both have now left the club.

"We do need someone who can be a bit more consistent in front of goal. We have missed that since Szmodics left. We have always seemed to have consistent goalscorers apart from last season."

"So this one is definitely something for us to be excited about, so yes, I am hoping that it progresses."

Valerien Ismael requires Blackburn Rovers backing

After losing Danny Batth, Andi Weimann and Tyrhys Dolan all on free transfers, Rovers now find themselves in a position where they otherwise might not have had to if it wasn't for contractual reasons.

However, after a positive end to the campaign under Ismael, the club needs to avoid taking multiple steps backwards, directly after taking some forward.

Blackburn have already completed four signings this summer in a bid to bolster Ismael’s side.

Discussions are also continuing to take place between Rovers and Swiss side Yverdon Sport FC regarding a deal for midfielder Moussa Baradji.

If Rovers are to continue on the upward trajectory kick-started last term, further backing is going to be crucial to avoid taking backwards steps amid a league now containing relegated Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton, alongside potential promotion candidates Birmingham City with their sky-high ambitions.
