Boca delivered another poor away display, losing 2-1 to Vélez in Liniers in the Torneo Apertura. Matías Pellegrini scored twice for the hosts, then Iker Zufiaurre netted a late consolation with a fine strike from outside the box. The scoreline flattered Boca, whose away run now reads two straight defeats.
LaNumer12.com.ar’s analysis issued harsh ratings and heavy criticism of coach Claudio Úbeda.
At the back, Agustín Marchesín was given four. Juan Barinaga received one after a torrid night, and Ayrton Costa also one, with Lautaro Di Lollo on four and Lautaro Blanco three. The defence struggled to contain Pellegrini and offered little assurance.
In midfield, Santiago Ascacíbar was marked four. Leandro Paredes earned five but was forced deep, while Milton Delgado received three, with the report noting positional clashes and disjointed build-up.
Going forward, Kevin Zenón was rated two and Gonzalo Gelini three after being used out of position. Miguel Merentiel got two, short of rhythm and without a shot, and Ángel Romero took three, having been at the club less than two weeks.
Zufiaurre’s five reflected his impact, while Tomás Aranda also earned five for energy and intent. The piece awarded Úbeda one, accusing him of repeated improvisation, including Ascacíbar as an eight, Paredes and Delgado in the same lane, and Gelini as a second striker in a 4-4-2. It assigned 99% of responsibility for the defeat to the coach.
