Bold claim made about Kyogo making Celtic return

Kyogo Furuhashi was an absolute superstar during his three-and-a-half seasons at Celtic. He was a regular starter for the club throughout that period of time. He was the face of the Ange Postecoglou era and while he failed to match those heights under the management of Brendan Rodgers, he still retained his spot as the club's first-choice striker, scoring a total of 85 goals for the Hoops.
Kyogo would leave Celtic in the recent winter transfer window to join Rennes. That appears to have been a bad decision already.
Kyogo has barely gotten into the team at Rennes, being left on the bench as an unused substitute on a number of occasions. And naturally, he is already being linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side.
Could a return to Celtic be on the cards for Kyogo? The Hoops are no strangers to returns. Rodgers returned in 2023 and Jota did the same earlier this year, incidentally joining from Rennes. Kieran Tierney will rejoin the club in the summer with a pre-contract deal already in place.
Could Kyogo be the next name on that list? Marvin Bartley does not appear to believe so. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
" I also don’t think there will be any chance of Celtic bringing him back, either."He had a long time at Celtic, where he did really, really well. He spoke about loving the club and the fans definitely loved him. He scored some vital goals. He scored a lot of goals as well.“But I think it’s one of those things where, both club and player have gone their separate ways now. It would be really, really surprising if we were ever to see him again in a Celtic shirt."
To be honest, that makes sense. While the likes of Jota and Tierney are still in their 20s, that is not the case for Kyogo. So, it would be a surprise if the Hoops do end up making a move for him, as that is not the profile of a player they generally sign.
Of course, Celtic have signed a few veterans in recent years but that is only as free agents. Kyogo has a long-term contract at Rennes and won't be available for a bargain transfer fee merely months after joining them. So, consider a Parkhead return unlikely for the Japanese international.
