Bolton Wanderers are in contention for the play-offs after their opening eight League One games, but will be concerned by the amount of draws they’re already racking up.

The Trotters have only suffered one defeat in the third-tier under Steven Schumacher, but have only secured two victories in that time too, with five draws hindering their progress up the table.

Bolton currently have the most blanks in the division so far this term, leaving them in 12th place, four points off of sixth-placed Huddersfield Town.

The Greater Manchester-based outfit will be hoping for better fortunes in the weeks ahead, firstly hosting Wigan Athletic this coming weekend, while a trip to Northampton Town and another home clash with Peterborough United follow - games that they will target maximum points from.

Despite the frustration about so many draws at the start of the season, one player who has really impressed at the Toughsheet Community Stadium is winger Amario Cozier-Duberry, who turned heads when joining on loan from Brighton.

His creative spark in the third-tier is already raising eyebrows in the Championship, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting that Sheffield United could be set to make a bid to take the attacker to Bramall Lane during the January transfer window.

Cozier-Duberry was originally signed on a season-long loan by Bolton, but Brighton have the option to recall him from that loan if they wish come the start of next year.

With this news in mind, Football League World’s Bolton Wanderers fan pundit has issued his thoughts on this move materialising, and the effect it could have on their promotion chances.

Amario Cozier-Duberry, Sheffield United interest justified after strong Bolton Wanderers start

Speaking to Football League World, Bolton Wanderers fan pundit Liam O’Meara has said he isn’t surprised by Sheffield United’s interest in Amario Cozier-Duberry, but believes he would be better suited to spend the season with Bolton before making the step-up to the Championship.

He described the possibility of losing the tricky winger as "painful", and Bolton will be keeping their fingers crossed that he stays put exactly where he is by the time January rolls around.

Liam said: “Am I concerned? Not really. It’s not a huge surprise either. He does look levels above this division, so if that is a possibility, then that’s just the game, unfortunately, for us and from our perspective.

“It would be a shame to lose him in January. I think his development would be better served staying here for a full season, by the way, and then reassessing things at the end of the year, but at the end of the day, that decision may get taken out of our hands.

“If that’s the case, then it is what it is, but ultimately, players that are coming here, doing well and then securing moves elsewhere at a higher level, that’s not the end of the world as it only makes us a more attractive option for other potential loanees out there.

“In the short-term, it would be painful, but it is what it is.”

Bolton Wanderers will fear Amario Cozier-Duberry exit may dent promotion hopes

There’s no doubt Bolton Wanderers will want to keep hold of Amario Cozier-Duberry given the start to the season he's made.

While Bolton have been slightly underwhelming so far, the winger has been a livewire, playing in all nine of their matches so far this season, scoring twice and delivering as many assists in the league.

He’s developed a habit of delivering late contributions, coming off the bench to score a stoppage-time equaliser in their eventual penalty shootout defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup, while he popped up to score their 94th-minute equaliser at Leyton Orient over the weekend, typifying the instant impact he’s made.

Such a brilliant start is always likely to earn interest from clubs in the division above, and Sheffield United are unsurprisingly a side in the race for his signature, given the Blades need an extra source of creativity after a dismal start to their own campaign.
