Carlos Augusto admits that Inter Milan “could have done better” after they crashed out of the Club World Cup against Fluminense.
The Brazilian spoke to DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews. He still insisted that it’s been a “great season” for the Nerazzurri.
Inter Milan’s season has now come to an end. They lost 0-2 against Brazilian side Fluminense in the round of sixteen of the Club World Cup.
This means that the Nerazzurri will not end the campaign with any silverware.
Inter Milan had their ups and downs in the group stage of the Club World Cup.
However, the knockouts simply proved to be a bridge too far for Cristian Chivu’s team.
Fluminense went ahead within a couple minutes. Inter looked shellshocked, whether it was the result of the long season, the heat, or simply being overrun by an organized and determined Fluminense team.
Inter huffed and puffed for the rest of the ninety minutes. They did carve out some good chances, even hitting the post twice.
But in the end the second goal of the match came from the Brazilian team, in stoppage time to seal the upset victory.

After the match, Inter wingback Carlos Augusto admitted “we could’ve done better than we did at this Club World Cup.”
“But we have to move on,” the 26-year-old continued.
“Let’s rest up,” Augusto insisted.
“We know that we have a great team. And that we can do well.”
Of the match against Fluminense, Augusto reflected bitterly that “we did what we could do.”
“Now let’s rest up a bit. We know that we have a long season waiting for us.”
“It’s normal that the fans only see the results,” the Brazilian added. “But it’s been a great season.”
“We fought for every trophy, and we know that you can’t win all the time.”
