The big centre-forward nabbed himself two goals against the Midlands outfit in what was a great moment for him in the Champions League, following his almost scenario against BSC Young Boys the week before.

End of Idah’s goal drought

Adam Idah has been struggling for confidence in front of goal lately and many have been arguing he only needed a goal to get him back firing on all cylinders once again. The recent displays from Idah have been up and down and the Irishman has struggled quite a bit between the posts and in that six-yard box. But on Wednesday evening he certainly stepped it up a notch and got his team back into a match where it looked like it could turn sour.

‘Those were two big goals for him’

The Celtic boss was really pleased with the man from Cork and said of his contribution after the match in his post-match media conference: “Those were two big goals for him. And actually, how we created the goals was very good. His movement into the box. He’s made a couple of runs and then he’s had to adjust and makes a great finish. And then the second one is a great team goal. And he is where he should be. In the box for the squared pass and we make the finish. So yeah, I thought he was a handful all night and that will be big for his confidence.”

The two strikes from Idah were really well taken, with the first one a really difficult height to get the leg up to meet the ball and of course make sure it is kept down. And then, if you notice closely for the second, he almost scoops the ball over Emi Martinez, allowing the pace of the ball itself to be the momentum that takes it into the roof of the net and prevents the goalkeeper’s big frame from blocking the shot.

Great night for Adam and hopefully he can keep this up going into the second part of the season!
