Brenden Aaronson laughed off a West Ham plea from a fan while at the World Cup with the United States, a snapshot of his revived status at Leeds United.

According to Leedsunited.news, the Leeds star smiled and dismissed the invitation to join the Hammers. Not long ago that felt unlikely, yet rival supporters are now taking notice.

West Ham had reason to. Back in October at Elland Road he scored the opener in a 2-1 win, then sprinted the length of the pitch and struck the bar.

The American’s 2025-26 was his strongest for Leeds, with four goals and five assists in 37 league games and more than 2,400 minutes. It was a clear step up on 2022-23, when he struggled in the relegation season.

For a long spell he divided opinion, from criticism of his post-relegation loan to doubts over physicality and decision-making. Returning from Germany surprised many, but he helped win promotion then delivered his most productive Premier League season for Leeds.

He is one of four Leeds players at the World Cup, alongside Noah Okafor, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Ao Tanaka, increasing attention on the club’s squad.

His contract runs to June 2027, so there is no immediate pressure, though decisions on extensions or sales are edging closer. The fan moment was not a transfer story, more evidence of a changed reputation and perhaps a hint that his future is not entirely settled.
