Brazilian has been in prolific form this season after a slow start to Brentford career
Igor Thiago has signed a new contract with Brentford midway through his outstanding season for the club.
The 24-year-old Brazilian striker has been offered improved terms, with the club tying him down until the summer of 2031. The Bees also retain an option to extend that by a further year.
With 17 goals, Thiago is the second-top scorer in the Premier League this season, behind only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and a new contract shows Brentford's commitment to the forward for the long-term.
His goals have helped Keith Andrews’ side into European contention, as they sit seventh in the table despite having lost manager Thomas Frank and key forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa last summer.
In November, Thiago became the first Brentford player ever to win the Premier League player of the month award, and in January he scored his first hat-trick for the west London club when he helped them to a 4-2 away win at Everton.
Thiago had an injury-disrupted first season at the Gtech Community Stadium following his arrival from Club Brugge but this term has been a breakout campaign in English football for the uncapped Brazilian.
“I love the club and the people in the club,” the No9 said. “It’s a true love, a real love.

“In the beginning, when I first came, I had the injury. The staff and the people around the training ground were helping me and supporting me.
“When the fans support me, and I see them singing my name and singing my song, it gives me more power. I’m really happy for all of the love they have given to me. It means so much.”
Thiago added: “With Keith, it’s more of a relationship as a father and a son. I’m really happy with him as he trusts and believes in me.
“I’m enjoying every single day and every single training session so much. It’s been a good journey and I’m happy to be here.”
Andrews sang the praises of the striker as he discussed Thiago’s new contract.

“It’s brilliant that Thiago has committed his long-term future to the club,” the Brentford boss said.
“The connection that he has with his team-mates, the staff and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and he means to us, is pretty evident for everybody to see.
“Again, it’s the person before the player. I love working with him and I’ve loved seeing his evolution as a player. How he plays is such a big part of how we play and what our season has been so far.
“He’s been a massive player for us, so it’s a contract he thoroughly deserves and I’m really happy that the club have been able to get it done.”
