Liverpool are LOSING Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.

The Egyptian King is bringing the curtain down on an historic nine-year spell at Anfield. Salah, 33, will be leaving on a free transfer after an agreement was reached to rip up his £400k per week deal - originally slated to run until 2027.

Focus now turns to which player can come into the club and replace the all-time Liverpool legend. Finding a like-for-like successor is going to be impossible with Salah having scored 255 goals throughout his time at the club.

So Arne Slot and Richard Hughes may have to improvise and find a player who isn’t an exact stylistic match.

Liverpool open the door to Harry Wilson

And the romantic option could well be Harry Wilson. The 29-year-old Fulham attacker has been in tremendous form for the Cottagers this season - scoring 10 goals in the Premier League and adding six assists.

He is out of contract at the end of the season - sparking a clamour from top-flight sides for his signature.

According to a report in TEAMtalk Tottenham, Manchester United, Everton, Leeds United, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Wrexham have all expressed an interest in signing the Wales international.

But an intriguing transfer path is opening up for Wilson to rejoin Liverpool.

Wilson can provide something different

“Liverpool have not completely ruled out a move to bring Wilson back to Anfield,” the report reads.

“The Welshman came through Liverpool’s system and remains highly regarded at the club, with his development since leaving only enhancing his reputation.

“Wilson could provide some high-class competition, especially with Mohamed Salah heading out.”

Wilson still highly regarded

The elegant left-footer came through at Liverpool - embarking on a series of loans - before joining Fulham in 2021. Since then he has established himself as a key creator for club and country.

Wilson can play on the right side - influencing the game from the flanks and can also function as an orthodox attacking midfielder. His arrival would not negate the need for an out-and-out winger - with Slot requiring a top-class option who can beat his man.

But Wilson would give Liverpool something different from the right side when required as well as a threat in behind.

Fans would no doubt love to see the return of one of their own - a player who has gone away and proven he can do it at the top level. It’s time to bring him home.
