Bruno Fernandes surpasses Ronaldo and De Gea with record fifth Man United POTY

Bruno Fernandes has been named as Manchester United's Player of the Year for a record fifth time.

The Portuguese midfielder has won the award for the second straight season, and fifth time since arriving at Old Trafford in January 2020. His fifth accolade takes him past David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo for the most outright wins.

Fernandes has been recognised after a brilliantPremier League campaign, in which the 31=year-old leads the league for assists (19).

He needs just one more assist to equal the single-season record, held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

The Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award, which has been awarded since 1994/95, follows on from Fernandes' FWA Footballer of the Year and Manchester United Players' Player of the Year accolades.
