VANCOUVER, Canada – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with Vancouver Whitecaps FC defeating CS Cartaginés 2-nil in the Second Leg of their Round One series, with the former side winning 2-nil on aggregate, on Wednesday at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Whitecaps FC had the chance to pull ahead from the penalty spot in the 40’, but Brian White’s attempt was saved by Cartaginés goalkeeper Kevin Briceño.

Thomas Müller came at the start of the second half and nearly found the opener for the hosts. The German World Cup-winner rattled the right post with a header from the center of the box in the 52’.

Kenji Cabrera found the breakthrough goal for Vancouver in the 58’, striking with a right-footed volley from inside the six-yard box following a corner. Tristan Blackmon posted the assist. 

Müller once again came close to scoring his first Champions Cup career goal in the 77’, hitting the right post with a curler from outside the box. 

Whitecaps FC ultimately doubled its lead in the 80’ through Sebastian Berhalter, who buried the ball at the top-right corner with a powerful hit from inside the box. 

Vancouver Whitecaps FC advances to the Round of 16, where the Canadian side will face reigning Leagues Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC.
