Cameron Carter-Vickers has reportedly missed the return to Lennoxtown for Celtic’s pre-season. A report on Monday evening suggests that the USA Internationalist may be recovering from an injury.
The central defender has been incredible since arriving initially on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, helping Celtic to win four titles in a row, and five further trophies. As reported by Record Sport, CCV has not made it back for the return of pre-season and there are some concerns that he has picked up a knock over the summer.
After the 1-1 draw at Ibrox, CCV went out of the team and required to get injections to ensure that he would be fit for the Cup Final. It may be that this issue went under the knife over the summer and the player has been handed some additional time to recover.
In an interview with Celtic TV, the manager stated that each player has their own pre-season programme to ensure that they get the necessary rest to prepare them for the new season.
It may be that the player simply requires further assistance in order to ensure that he can play a big part in the new season.
Celtic will be looking to add to their backline this summer with Hayato Inamura expected to join from Albirex Niigata. It remains to be seen whether the manager will add further defenders to his ranks or he is content with the central defensive options available. CCV was partnered with Liam Scales and Auston Trusty but neither of the LCB options held down the role over the other.
