The kickoff of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations – CAN 2025 will feature a clash between the host nation, Morocco, and the Comoros. The tournament runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
On paper, Morocco are the favorites and can count on the support of their home crowd to get off to a flying start. The goal is to win—and win in style if possible.
Walid Regragui's men need to make a statement right from their opening game in Group A, which also features Mali and Zambia.
Comoros are taking part in their second ever AFCON after their debut in 2019, where they reached the round of 16—a feat Stefano Cusin’s squad will be eager to repeat in Morocco.
The opening match of CAN 2025 between the Atlas Lions and the Coelacanths will take place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 19:00 GMT.
The match will be broadcast on beIN Sports, the competition’s official broadcaster—whether on beIN SPORTS 2 in France or beIN Sports MENA. New World TV, Canal+ CAN, and Canal+ Afrique's 100% CAN channel will also carry the tournament. The host country’s channel, Arryadia, will air the match as well.
