MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship Semifinals saw Canada and Mexico victorious on Friday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

The two North American nations secured a place in Sunday’s Final to determine the champion of the 2025 edition.

This will be the first time Mexico and Canada face each other in the Final of the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship. For Mexico, it will be their fourth consecutive final, having won two of the previous three (2018 and 2023). Canada returns to the final for the first time since 2015, when they lost 1-0 to the United States in Honduras.

United States 0, Canada 1

Canada earned a 1-nil win against the United States to secure the first spot in the Final.

Deadlocked throughout the first half, neither side could find the back of the net prior to the halftime whistle. Léa Larouche struck the opening goal in the 56’ with a left-footed shot that would become the match-winning goal.

Canada advanced to its first Final since the 2015 edition and sixth overall. The result also marks the first time in tournament history that the U.S. will not be part of the championship match.

This is the first time Canada has defeated the United States in semifinals, and the first time the U.S. will not play in the final since the inaugural edition. Canada will play in the final for the fourth time; they last won the title in 2008. The last time they reached the final was in Honduras 2015, where they lost 1-0 to the United States.

Mexico 4, Costa Rica 0

Mexico continued its title defence with a 4-nil victory over hosts Costa Rica. The result sends Mexico to the tournament final for a fifth consecutive edition.

Montserrat Saldívar struck the opening goal in the 6’ to extend her tally as the tournament’s leading scorer to six. Natalia Muñoz doubled the lead in the 26’ with a header in the box to capitalize on a great collective play.

Alice Soto added a third for Mexico in the 44’ for send her nation up by three at the half. Soto closed the day with a brace in the 77’ with a left-footed shot in the box, extending her tally to four in the campaign.
