Castello Lukeba discusses his RB Leipzig future | OneFootball

Castello Lukeba has established himself as a mainstay in the RB Leipzig defence after overcoming injury that saw him miss 10 Bundesliga games last season. Despite a contract until 2029, the Frenchman’s future has always been questioned with Europe’s elite monitoring the player, but the 22-year-old discussed his situation, in an exclusive interview with Bild.

“My goal is to get back into Europe with Leipzig,” said Lukeba. “Because only watching the Champions League on TV is extremely painful.

“I’m not thinking any further ahead than that. We have to stay focused. The season is long. Last year we also started well and then had big problems.”

The Frenchman was then pressed on what his dream was, to which he responded: “My dream is to become world champion, or to win the Champions League someday. I don’t dream of playing for a specific club. Rather, I dream of winning titles – because that’s what you remember most at the end of your career.”

Lukeba has played in nine of Leipzig’s 10 Bundesliga games this season as they sit second. Prior to their Matchday 10 defeat against Hoffenheim, the Saxony club had won seven and drawn one of their previous eight league games.
