Castellón’s player ratings against Albacete saw Matthys stand tall, Brignani restore parity and Beñat Gerenabarrena sent off in stoppage time. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the side mixed resilience with missed chances.

Matthys was rated seven, he could do little about the home goal and made two big saves from Jefté and Víctor San Bartolomé. Mellot earned five, it was not his best outing and he was caught out for the goal after losing his marker. Alberto Jiménez took six, alert in cover and dealing with danger.

Brignani received seven, his aerial strength produced the equaliser with a powerful header at a delicate moment. Lucas Alcázar got six, steady on the left and overlapping Pablo Santiago, then replaced on 78’. Barri also rated six, tireless though his passing was off.

Gerenabarrena was rated five, he covered plenty of ground and helped hold the side together physically. Marc Doué took five, the experiment did not quite work and he struggled to link play in the final third. Pablo Santiago earned six, a useful connector after the interval, still short of decisive actions.

Israel Suero was rated seven and proved the team’s main threat, his superb left foot produced another assist. Ousmane Camara received six, very involved and late on missed a one-on-one that would have made it 1-2.

From the bench, Jakobsen rated five and was largely anonymous. De Nipoti earned six, demanded the ball, ran at defenders and caused problems. Tincho took five, dependable.
