Celta ‘to offer’ cash-plus-player deal for Jesús Vázquez | OneFootball

Celta are pursuing Valencia left-back Jesús Vázquez as they seek to deepen their squad for another Europa League season, with Giráldez intent on strengthening the left side.

According to Faro de Vigo, the approach would involve a cash offer plus a player. Such an exchange appears remote for now, with Giráldez keen to assess Unai Núñez in pre-season and the defender having a chance to stay. Carlos Corberán rates Núñez for his versatility and would like to count on him again.

Javi Galán is another option Celta are weighing. The Galician club previously had the former Atlético Madrid player, now at Osasuna, who has produced stretches of outstanding form. Even so, Vigo place strong value on Vázquez’s youth and his readiness to step up after years in Gayà’s shadow.

This season Vázquez has also featured as a wing-back when Corberán tried a back five, notably against Atlético and against Celta, a match that began with a missed Valencia penalty. He coped there and has been reliable in a back four too.

After difficulties in recent years, he has found better form when given minutes this season. Giráldez rotates heavily and has even used full-backs on their weaker foot to move inside, while promoting youngsters, a profile Vázquez fits. For now the defender is focused on delivering for Valencia and pursuing his dream of succeeding at Mestalla.
