‘Celtic Have Reached An Agreement’ – Bhoys Breakthrough For Midfielder | OneFootball

Celtic ‘have reached an agreement’ on personal terms with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, but must still do a deal with the German side.

The Bhoys are picking up the pace in the transfer market and recruiting in midfield is a priority amid interest in Arne Engels.

Engels could be a big money exit from Celtic this summer and the Bhoys could well be looking to repeat the trick from the Belgian, who they raided German football for.

They are making a push for 22-year-old midfielder Baur, who is on the books at Paderborn in Germany.

Celtic want to agree terms with the player first before they seeking to do a deal with Paderborn and they look to have done just that.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on X: “Understand Celtic have reached an agreement with Mika Baur on personal terms.

“Club to club talks ongoing with Paderborn.”

How easy it will be for Celtic to agree a deal with Paderborn for Baur remains to be seen, but he has entered the final year of his contract at the club.

The midfielder clocked 36 appearances across all competitions last season as he helped Paderborn to win promotion up to the Bundesliga.

Leaving on the back of that achievement could raise eyebrows, but Baur agreeing terms indicates Celtic is a move he would like to make.

The midfielder has never played above the second tier in Germany and came through the youth ranks at Freiburg, but was snapped up by Paderborn in 2024.

Baur has turned out for Germany all the way through to Under-21 level.

Celtic have a number of transfer irons in the fire at the moment, but Las Palmas are still awaiting an offer from the Bhoys for goalkeeper Dinko Horkas.
