Celtic are looking into a move for Napoli striker Giuseppe Ambrosino, according to Sky Sports.
The Hoops are reportedly exploring conditions for a loan move that could include an option to sign the Italy Under-21 star on a permanent deal.
The Scottish Premiership champions are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of a title defence next season, and Ambrosino is the latest player on their radar.
The 21-year-old is coming off a solid campaign in the Italian second division, where he scored five goals and assisted four more across 36 league appearances for Frosinone.
His numbers may have been modest for a striker, but he showed plenty of upside to his game. Ambrosino has received praise for his technique and football intelligence, especially in the final third.
He has shown a mix of flair and maturity at Frosinone that has caught the eye of several clubs, and Celtic are now ready to take a chance on the striker.
The Napoli academy graduate is said to be keen on joining the Scottish champions. He’s likely drawn by the club’s reputation for developing young players and giving them consistent first-team minutes.
He hasn’t yet had that at Napoli. Despite being a regular for Napoli at youth level, Ambrosino has yet to make his senior debut for the Partenopei.
But he has a brilliant record at youth level, netting 27 goals in 52 games for Napoli’s U19 Primavera team.
Ambrosino has already made his mark on the international stage with the Italian U21 side. He featured in the most recent European Championship tournament, scoring once in four games.
However, that’s one of his only two goals in 11 appearances for the young Azzurri, but those experiences have helped him build confidence and gain exposure at a decent level.
Celtic are yet to act on their interest, but a move could be on the cards, with Brendan Rodgers keen to bolster his firepower heading into the new season.
The Hoops have already signed Kieran Tierney, Benjamin Nygren, and Ross Doohan this summer.
