Chelsea have announced the highest pre-tax loss in Premier League history for the 2024-25 campaign.

The figures for last season show a £262m loss for the West Londoners, smashing the previous record loss of £179.5m posted by Manchester City in 2011.

Chelsea insist the club remain on course to be compliant with the Premier League’s financial rules, including Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which allow losses of £105m over three years. The losses come despite Chelsea recording the second-highest revenue in club history, at £490.9m

UEFA continue to monitor Chelsea after issuing the Blues a £26.7m fine at the start of the season for breaching squad-cost ratio rules.

The BBC are reporting that Chelsea’s losses include ‘write-offs’ such as the termination of Raheem Sterling’s contract.

The Blues are understood to expect record revenues for the current campaign, following their Club World Cup triumph last summer and a return to the Champions League. Those two competitions are expected to generate around £165m in combined revenue.
