Chelsea beat West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and the player who received the loudest roar from fans was not Cole Palmer!
Palmer is the Chelsea talisman and he is the one who gets the fans most excited and off their feet, so when his name is read out at the start of matches, it is often that he will get the biggest cheer.
But on Monday night it was different, even though Palmer was also starting the game. But the circumstances were different.
Blues fans have had enough of Robert Sanchez and they were just relieved more than anything to see that Enzo Maresca had finally made the decision to drop him. So when his replacement’s name Filip Jorgensen was read out, it apparently had the biggest roar!
Simon Johnson of The Athletic reports there was an almighty roar from the Stamford Bridge crowd when Jorgensen’s name was read out on the team sheet, perhaps the loudest occasion of the whole night.

“Our sporting structure has a lot of egg on their face right now. It’s bad business across the board here. I mean, you bought players only to loan them immediately,” Presenter Nick Verlaney said.
You’re bringing back players who should have been with the squad all along. It looks like a lot of mismanagement all around. And if you ask me right now if Chelsea have a better squad for the second half of the season than they had for the first half – I think the answer is unequivocally: ‘no’.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s only incoming new signing for January was finally announced by the club late yesterday afternoon!
