Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that RB Leipzig have accepted an €80 million offer for Simons, with €55 million due upfront. Simons is under contract with Leipzig until June 2027, and PSG included a smart sell-on clause ensuring they receive a share of any future transfer.

That strategy has already paid off. Adam Crafton of The Athletic noted that PSG received €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s recent move to Liverpool thanks to a similar clause.

Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Chelsea are planning a contract with Xavi Simons running until 2031. Personal terms have been agreed verbally, with the written details expected to be finalized next week.

This week, Romano appeared on DAZN to provide the latest on Simons’ move to Chelsea, noting that a deal is close to completion and even giving a percentage of certainty.

“So the percentage for Xavi Simons to Chelsea remains at 85 percent, still very optimistic, because Xavi Simons told all the other clubs,” Romano said. “We had rumors about Bayern, rumors about Man City, rumors about several clubs. Xavi Simons wants to go to Chelsea. Xavi Simons is waiting for Chelsea.

“Xavi Simons has an agreement on personal terms and a contract with Chelsea. So he’s just basically patiently waiting—just waiting for a green light. But what’s needed is for Chelsea to sell players. And so Xavi Simons, at that point, can arrive.”
