Mohammed Kudus is a proper baller, someone who can get fans off their seats with his dribbling and drive. The fact that he turned down the Saudi millions to stay in Europe already speaks volumes about his ambition. He wants to compete at the highest level, and that fits perfectly with what Maresca is building.

There’s been a shift at Stamford Bridge. This isn’t scattergun spending anymore. It’s a clear, coherent plan. Pedro, Kudus, Delap and Gittens – that’s pace, youth and unpredictability. Imagine Kudus playing just off Nkunku or Pedro. It’s the kind of attacking dynamism we haven’t seen consistently since Hazard left.
