Clarke converts late as Ipswich Town hold Middlesbrough

Ipswich Town 2-2 Middlesbrough at Portman Road keeps Ipswich second and Middlesbrough fifth in the Championship.
David Strelec put Boro ahead in the 25th minute, turning in Alan Browne's lay-off. Kasey McAteer levelled with a low strike from distance after Ivan Azón Monzón's pass (30.).
After the restart, Tommy Conway finished a fast break to restore the visitors' lead (64.). Christian Walton then produced key stops to thwart Jeremy Sarmiento and Strelec as the Tractor Boys stayed in touch.
Changes sharpened the hosts. Jack Clarke came on and Anis Mehmeti forced Sol Brynn into a save, before McAteer departed injured and Sindre Egeli crossed for Clarke to head wide (80.).
Adilson Malanda fouled George Hirst to concede a penalty (86.). Clarke sent Brynn the wrong way from the spot (87.).
Boro registered nine shots on target from 15 attempts, underlining their threat. The Tractor Boys controlled phases with 53.3% possession and delivered 22 crosses.
Next, the Tractor Boys visit Charlton. Boro host Sheffield Wednesday.
