Sergio Conceicao was in no mood to discuss his future after AC Milan’s win over Venezia, also mentioning Massimiliano Allegri’s name.
Milan recorded their third clean sheet in their last four games since switching to a three-man defence as they emerged 2-0 winners over Venezia. Christian Pulisic scored early on, and Santiago Gimenez netted right at the end to secure three points that, sadly, feel a little too late to change much.
There continues to be rumblings about Conceicao’s future at the club, just as there has been for weeks now. This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera even stated that his post-match comments suggest a chance of the Portuguese resigning rather than waiting to potentially be let go.
Conceicao spoke in the press conference room after the game at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo to offer his thoughts on a hard-fought win, with his comments via MilanNews.
This could have been a banana skin for Milan, instead you won. What do you think?
“That’s right, it was a dangerous match, we won in a fantastic way against Inter, today knowing the group, what they have shown this year, I didn’t sleep well, because I knew I had to come here to Venice and it wasn’t easy at all.
“The water, the boat, the only thing missing were the palm trees: it was a different environment to play like that.”
More Stories / The Match
You only let in one goal – against Atalanta – with the new system. Have you found balance?
“I have no regrets, I didn’t have a magic wand to change everything from one day to the next. It was normal, I’m not saying that everything will be fine now, but let’s try to be more consistent in our game and mentality.”
What can you tell us about the future?
“Conceicao is not important at the moment. We are thinking about the league, trying to win against Bologna, then what happens to me, Allegri, or others, does not concern me. Why Allegri? Because you always talk about him.”
How are Gimenez and Jimenez?
“Jovic had a back problem, it was tight. I spoke with Alex Jimenez, in the second half he lost concentration, he is young and has quality, at that moment he was tired, he has no physical problems. On Santi Gimenez: he is aware that he is not at his best, this is the basis for improving.”
Did Milan take a risk in not killing the game off earlier?
“Yes, the final pass was missing, the shot on target, we could have closed it out earlier.”
