The trio were part of both the League One and Championship promotion campaigns

Marcus Harness may have made more league appearances from the bench at Ipswich Town, but there's no doubt that he was one of the key players in the club's meteoric rise from League One to the Premier League.

Ipswich gave the former Portsmouth and Burton Albion man his first taste of Premier League football, for which Harness is eternally grateful, as he detailed in his goodbye message on his Instagram.

As expected, plenty of Ipswich fans joined in the comments section to express their gratitude towards Harness, but they were also joined by a couple of fellow promotion heroes.

With Marcus Harness departing the club, which provided plenty of career highlights, he made sure to show his gratification to Ipswich Town via an Instagram post.

The 29-year-old stated that he "couldn't put into words how special [his] time at Ipswich Town" was, and as it happens, neither club captain Sam Morsy nor attacking midfielder Conor Chaplin could put into words how much they appreciated him, too.

Both of them took to the comments section, leaving love-heart-related comments - Morsy commenting "❤️❤️" and Chaplin leaving "💙💙💙" under the post.

Ipswich Town will always remember their promotion heroes

Despite their recent Premier League relegation, the past few seasons have been unforgettable at Portman Road, and everyone involved in Ipswich's rise from League One to the Premier League will be remembered dearly there.

Chaplin and Morsy may have played a more prominent role in doing so; Morsy captained the side's first Premier League games since 2002, and Chaplin's 26 goals in their League One promotion campaign truly helped kickstart the incredible route to the top-flight, but Harness' role was just as important too.

Harness may have only started seven Championship games in the 2023/24 season, but the 29-year-old was more often than not one of the first names to come off the bench for Kieran McKenna's side when he wasn't in the eleven.

Having lived out his dream of playing in the Premier League, he now returns to a league where he's made close to 200 appearances and enjoyed his best attacking returns.

And Harness still has a lot to offer any club in League One. Huddersfield will be hoping that some of that winning culture from his time in Suffolk spreads through into West Yorkshire this upcoming season.
