Roma has set its sights on Joshua Zirkzee for the January transfer window.
Gian Piero Gasperini has identified the Dutchman as a favorite, and the Roman club wants to make his move a reality.
Negotiations with Manchester United have been ongoing for some time, and the club hopes to reach a deal by early January.
Regarding the terms, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Red Devils have not closed the door to a loan with an option to buy, leaving Roma greater freedom to maneuver.
Furthermore, it appears that the Zirkzee deal is no longer tied to the Africa Cup of Nations: the English club is looking for a replacement.
Zirkzee is ready to wait for Roma and wants only the Giallorossi.
This is due to his conversation with Frederic Massara, who instilled confidence in him, and to Gasperini, with whom, according to Il Tempo, there has been positive contact, which he sees as crucial to his recovery.
The Giallorossi sporting director is working to satisfy Manchester United’s demands, writes Il Corriere dello Sport: the first proposal is a €5 million loan with an obligation set at €30 million.
The English club is stalling, but the Dutchman only wants the Giallorossi.
According to La Repubblica, Massara is willing to offer €40 million to unlock the deal and get closer to the €50 million requested by Manchester United, but the only certainty is that Roma will not change the format.
The Giallorossi, according to Il Messaggero, would like to close the deal on loan with an option or obligation to buy to postpone the operations related to Zirkzee and Giacomo Raspadori until the next financial year.
