Valencia head into the final week of January with their spine secured, three targeted signings in place to lift standards. According to AS, Unai Núñez, Guido Rodríguez and Umar Sadiq have arrived to strengthen defence, midfield and attack.
Carlos Corberán can breathe easier after moves aligned with his demand for immediate impact. The trio were first-choice options in the summer, but circumstances prevented agreements then.
Valencia still need to improve to put more distance between themselves and the relegation places and to push towards mid-table. That comes despite taking seven of the last nine points.
The club have had to spend this month after failing to land Sadiq in the summer, when an outlay of four million euros was not authorised in Singapore. A small fee has also been paid to secure Guido Rodríguez.
Summer mis-steps were compounded when Cristhian Mosquera was sold to Arsenal, no bid was made for Enzo Barrenechea and Sadiq waited in San Sebastián for a serious offer. Now Unai, Guido and Sadiq aim to settle quickly in Corberán’s XI.
Against Betis next Sunday, all three will be at Corberán’s disposal.
