Corinthians agree loan deal for Bahia forward Kayky

With limited possibilities for making investments, Corinthians remains attentive to market opportunities in order to strengthen the squad for the 2026 season. This Saturday (31), the Alvinegro finalized the signing of forward Kayke, 22 years old, on loan until the end of the year from Bahia. His contract with the northeastern club. Discovered in Fluminense’s youth academy, Kayke broke out in 2020 as a standout in the team’s U-17 Brazilian Championship victory. Soon after, he was promoted to the main squad of the Rio de Janeiro team, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 37 matches. In April 2021, he was sold to Manchester City, England, who acquired the player for a fixed €10 million (R$ 66.5 million at the time), retaining 80% of his economic rights.

However, on the blue side of Manchester, he did not have many opportunities. In the professional team, managed by Spaniard Pep Guardiola, he played only two matches. Without a run in the first team, he began to get minutes in the English club’s youth squads. There, he played for the U-19, U-21, and U-23 teams, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 18 matches.

In 2022, he was loaned by the City Group to Paços de Ferreira, in Portugal, where he did not stand out. He played nine matches and scored no goals. In the 2023 season, he returned to Manchester City and was loaned to Bahia. That year, he scored four goals and provided five assists in 28 matches.

That same year, in July, he suffered a knee ligament injury, which interrupted his rise at Bahia. He returned to England for treatment and was then loaned to Sparta Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. For the Dutch team, he played seven matches and scored no goals. In 2025, he returned to play for Bahia, scoring two goals and providing seven assists in 47 matches. In total, he recorded six goals and 12 assists in 76 matches for the northeastern team.

In 2026, he lost his place in the team managed by Rogério Ceni and, so far, has only played once. Kayky has similar characteristics to fellow forward Kaio César, able to play on both the left and right wings, being a pacey player on the flanks—a trait the Corinthians squad has been lacking.

So far, in addition to Kaio César, Alvinegro has already announced the arrivals of center-back Gabriel Paulista, right-back Pedro Milans, and midfielder Matheus Pereira. On the other hand, those who have left Parque São Jorge include: center-back Félix Torres (loaned to Internacional), right-back Fagner (contract terminated to sign permanently with Cruzeiro), left-back Fabrizio Angileri (contract not renewed), defensive midfielder Ryan (loaned to Fortaleza), as well as forwards Héctor Hernández (contract terminated to sign with Gil Vicente, Portugal), Ángel Romero, and Talles Magno, whose contracts were not renewed. The first signed with Boca Juniors, Argentina, and the second was reintegrated into the New York City squad in the United States.
