Corinthians defender joins Ecuador squad for USA, Mexico friendlies

This Saturday, the 4th, Sebastián Beccacece, coach of the Ecuador National Team, called up Corinthians defender Félix Torres to join the squad traveling to North America for two friendlies on the next FIFA date, against the USA and Mexico, on the 10th and 14th respectively. In total, the coach called up 28 players for the international matches.

Even though he has been experiencing a period of limited playing time under coach Dorival Júnior at Corinthians, the player has been a constant presence in his country's call-ups, having been an important part of the team that qualified for the 2026 World Cup after finishing second in the Conmebol Qualifiers.

Despite the matches in North America, it is possible that Torres could be available for Corinthians in the match against Santos, on the 15th, a game valid for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship, at least as an option on the bench. The same cannot be said, however, for Paraguayan Ángel Romero and goalkeeper Hugo Souza, who will represent their national teams in friendlies in Asia and will hardly be available to play for Timão in the local fixture.

On the other hand, another called-up player should be available: striker Memphis, who will play for the Netherlands against Malta on the 9th and Finland on the 12th, in the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers. Since the match against Santos takes place three days after his last commitment with the national team, it is certain that the number 10 could be used by Dorival, provided he is in good physical condition.
