Corinthians duo join special Children's Day press conference 🎉

On the afternoon of this Sunday, the 12th, Corinthians released a special video on Corinthians TV, on YouTube, in celebration of Children's Day. The content featured a different kind of press conference, where defender André Ramalho and forward Gui Negão answered various questions asked by students from Escolinha Chute Inicial, the club's official youth development project.

The event, which had a light and relaxed tone, brought the athletes closer to the young Corinthians fans and provided moments of laughter and shared curiosities. The interaction allowed the young supporters to learn more about the players' routines, stories, and even some of their peculiarities.

The chat began with a question about how the athletes like to relax outside the training environment. André Ramalho answered naturally: “Basically, it’s sleeping, right, being with my family, with my children, enjoying this time when I’m not with the team to be able to enjoy my family and raise my kids, which is also important.”

When asked about his happiest moment at Corinthians, the defender recalled two memorable occasions: “I think the first, chronologically speaking, was my goal for Corinthians, which is my only one so far. And the other, for sure, is the Paulistão title, because I think winning a title with Corinthians, which is something I always wanted, right, to win titles, but since I arrived at Corinthians that was the goal. It’s something that will be marked forever.” he said.

At another moment, Gui Negão “revealed” that André Ramalho is the most punctual in the squad. The defender, in turn, returned the compliment with good humor: “If it’s me, I don’t know, honestly, I don’t know. I’m one of them, maybe, but I think there are others who arrive earlier, I think the people from Alphaville, right?” to which the youngster added: “If they arrive, they stay at the training center, André Ramalho arrives before the security guard”, laughing.

Asked if he still plays soccer in the street, Gui admitted he avoids it to prevent injuries, but said he still keeps an old passion alive: “Soccer, no, I’m afraid, you know, like before, of hurting my big toe in the street and not being able to play for the club anymore, but I fly a lot of kites, that’s what I like and still do today where I used to live, and I’m good at it.”

About what they do on game mornings, Gui explained: “I say my prayer, which I think is the main thing to start the day, and I’m already extremely anxious for the game, I also eat the right meals and always keep my mind on the game with a very high level of concentration.” André Ramalho added: “It’s basically similar, right, I think that morning routine, right, which also remains on game day, but what changes on game day is what you mentioned, the concentration.”

When the kids wanted to know who supported them the most in their careers, both mentioned their families. André Ramalho recalled: “My father, right, as my mentor, but he was always there, my father, my brother, my mother, I think they were the people who were with me the most at the beginning, and then, from the moment I started dating my wife, right, she also joined that group, so that’s it, my wife, my father, my mother, and my brother.”

Gui, in turn, said: “For me, it’s the same, my parents who encouraged me a lot, my father and my grandfather too, who passed away, tried to be a soccer player and couldn’t, I believe I’m on the right path too, I have a lot to improve. I also have a special thanks to my grandmother, who at the beginning also helped me a lot, taking me to training, games, so I thank her as well.”

Among the advice for those who want to become players, Gui highlighted: “I think the main thing is not to give up, the mental side is very important in football today, so I believe if you don’t have a strong mind, you can end up making the worst decision of your life, so that’s it, work and always keep your mind strong.” André Ramalho added briefly and directly. “Gui said it perfectly, I think that’s it, and in addition to what he said, I think it’s believing in yourself.”, he said.

When talking about the most beautiful goal of his career, Gui Negão recalled: “I really liked the goal I scored against Bahia, it was my first, I didn’t even expect to score a bicycle kick goal like that, so that one will always be marked in my life.”

André Ramalho was asked at what point in his career he started playing in defense. “It happened over time, I started as a midfielder, when I was younger, I played in midfield, then you drop back, then to defensive midfielder, then to defender, so far no one has wanted to test me as a goalkeeper yet, but…”, he replied, joking.

In a more relaxed moment of the special press conference, one of the children asked what superpowers the duo would like to have. André Ramalho chose the power to fly, but Gui Negão preferred another: “To be invisible, to sneak by… imagine playing hide-and-seek without anyone seeing you, come on, that’s crazy.”

The forward also said he didn’t have an alternative career in mind, in case he didn’t become a professional player – but, at the time, he thought of something: “I didn’t have a plan B, it was to be a soccer player or be a soccer player, so I think if I could choose a successful profession, I think I would be a kart driver. It’s something I do for fun, it’s the only time I’ve ever driven a kart in my life.”

At another moment, Gui Negão was asked which player from Corinthians’ history he would “bring back” to play in the current team, to play alongside. The youngster answered with a name that is significant for millions of fans: “I would pick Guerrero, I think Guerrero is a guy I was a big fan of too.”

The duo also talked about their dreams. André Ramalho stated: “Well, to win many titles, that’s the goal.” Gui added: “Same for me, but I think I’d add to score the title-winning goal, I think that would be really cool. It’s a dream I have, God willing, I’ll have the chance to achieve it this year, God willing, as soon as possible.”

Gui Negão recalled the best advice he ever received. “Ah, there were many, but one piece of advice I always took for myself was to always walk with God. If you always walk with God, things will happen. And always work, stay strong, keep your feet on the ground and be humble, and things will always work out.”, he explained.

André Ramalho answered the same question, recalling his family: “My father has always been a mentor to me, in all good and bad moments, if I need to vent, talk to someone, he’s one of those people. One thing he always told me, especially in difficult times, he always said ‘dust yourself off and get back up.’”

Finally, both were asked who helped them take their first kick – both remembered their fathers. André Ramalho stated: “For me, it was my father too, I think he was one of the pioneers, a guy who, from the beginning of my career, since I was little, always liked and encouraged us to play soccer, me and my brother at the time.” to which Gui Negão added: “I also had a friend, and I’m still grateful to him today, who taught me to always train my weaker foot. I think he taught me so well that nowadays I joke and pass with my left foot (laughs).”

At the end, André Ramalho left a heartfelt message for the young fans: “Thank you to all the children, in general, to all the little fans for always supporting us and know that you are part of this club, you are part of our history, you are fundamental so that we can be here performing at our best, your support is extremely important and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, to say that we’re together and that you have a blessed Children’s Day, with your family, with your loved ones and that’s it, we’re together and go Corinthians!”
