Corinthians face Peñarol in the Copa Libertadores on Thursday night, the third round, at Neo Química Arena, kick-off 21:00. They go in backed by a favourable record against Uruguayan opponents.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have faced Uruguayan clubs 42 times, with 20 wins, 14 draws and eight defeats. They have scored 71 and conceded 43, for 74 points and a 58.73% points return.
Recent meetings underline that trend. Racing Club de Montevideo were beaten 1-0 away then 1-0 in São Paulo in the 2025 Sudamericana. In 2024 the sides drew 1-1 in Uruguay before Corinthians won 3-0 at home, and against Liverpool Montevideo in 2023 they posted back-to-back 3-0 wins.
One of the few setbacks came against Peñarol in 2021, a 2-0 defeat in São Paulo followed by a 4-0 loss away. That group-stage exit left Corinthians second, when only the winners advanced.
Corinthians lead Group E with six points from two matches. Peñarol are third on one point, behind Platense from Argentina.
