Corinthians full-back celebrates sixth Libertadores, eyes World Cup

The left-back Tamires, aged 38, gave an exclusive interview to Canal Goat and was asked about the importance of the six-time championship of the Conmebol Libertadores Feminina (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025) won against Deportivo Cali-COL. The international title secured the team a spot in the semifinals of the Copa das Campeãs, Club World Cup, against Gotham FC, in early 2026, in England.

The Brabas athlete stated that the victory is the most important since the reactivation of the sport, as it allowed the Alvinegro to secure a spot in the global competition: “Look, considering the World Cup aspect, it was indeed the most important title. I think Corinthians, because of its journey, deserved to be in this first World Cup. Everything it has built in women's football, for the reference it has become. And being the champion of America is a wonderful thing. Celebrating 200 games there (in the Libertadores) was even more special. And I think it was more important for us to have won, to have achieved this title once again for the Corinthians fans”, she began.

Later, she emphasized the desire to win the Club World Cup. It is worth remembering that the competition includes Arsenal (England), the current champion of the Women's Champions League. This means there could be a clash between the Alvinegro and the London team in a potential final.

“(I want to win the) World Cup, the Copa das Campeãs. I haven't played, I haven't won, and I want to win. Look, this passion for football, for Corinthians, how much we, each year, the fans support more and more, this issue of women's football breaking barriers, I also think that this is part of Tamires not only on the field winning titles, but we know that titles give us the opportunity to talk about women's football, to raise this voice and seek to improve the overall scenario. So that's what drives me every day, and this happiness of doing what I love, of inspiring new generations as well. So all of this is very important to me and is part of my daily life,” she continued.

Finally, she was asked about her future at Parque São Jorge, as her contract ends in December 2025: “I think everything is set to happen (the renewal). I think the talks have gone well. So, I believe it will work out. I'm also very happy because of Corinthians. Many years at Corinthians, building all this history, so I'm very happy to be able to continue with this renewal and let's go for more, right? Good things are happening”, she concluded.

Since her arrival at Corinthians in July 2019, Tamires has played 204 games (170 as a starter) – 161 wins, 30 draws, and 13 losses – with an almost 84% success rate. Additionally, she has scored 37 goals and provided 30 assists, with 17 titles won (the second most successful in the club's history), including the Brasileirão, Campeonato Paulista, Libertadores, Supercopa, and Copa Paulista.
