Corinthians hand new two-year deal to U20 midfield regular

Corinthians continues working to maintain the most prominent names in its youth categories. This week, the board finalized the renewal with midfielder Guilherme Pires, 19 years old, who signed a new contract until the end of 2027. The information was initially reported by Itatiaia and confirmed by Central do Timão.

Signed during Augusto Melo’s administration, he managed to stand out and became a regular in the under-20 squad. Even with the arrival of William Batista, he continued to get opportunities and, with the risk of losing the player in March 2026—the expiration date of the previous contract—Timão negotiated the renewal. The club holds 80% of the player’s economic rights.

Pires played 29 matches last season, which was turbulent due to early eliminations in the Paulistão and Brasileirão Under-20, despite being runners-up in the Copinha. Of these, 19 were as a starter, contributing four assists during the period.

As mentioned, the club has been working to renew with youth players such as Gabriel Caipira, Pellegrin, and Thomas Lisboa. In addition, players who are already in the professional squad have also signed extensions, such as João Vitor ‘Jacaré’ and Dieguinho.
