According to Globo, Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto has reached an important stage in his recovery process, beginning individual work on the training ground as he transitions out of the club’s medical department. The centre-forward, who fractured a vertebra in his spine on May 24, had been sidelined since the incident, missing a run of fixtures under Dorival Júnior.
This latest development, which saw Yuri Alberto engage with the club’s fitness coaches rather than medical staff, signals progress in his rehabilitation. However, there is still no official timeline from Corinthians regarding his return to full training with the squad or availability for match action. The forward is not yet cleared for ball work.
Yuri Alberto’s presence at the Joaquim Grava training centre comes as the squad reconvenes following a 15-day break. Technical staff focused the Sunday morning session on refining offensive schemes, encouraging quick passing, movement, and finishing in exercises that deployed mannequins to simulate opposing defenders. Dorival Júnior continues to emphasize both attacking combinations and defensive organization, his trademark since taking charge after the departure of Ramón Díaz, who struggled with the team’s defensive stability.
Despite positive momentum in his recovery, Yuri Alberto remains under careful observation. His step onto the pitch with fitness trainers represents a tangible improvement, but club sources caution that medical clearance for full contact and returning to competitive matches will depend on ongoing assessments.
When fit, Yuri Alberto is expected to reclaim the No. 9 role, essential to Dorival’s game model as the focal point in attack. Without his presence, Corinthians have rotated attacking duties, but have struggled to find consistent cutting edge.
For now, supporters will continue to await updates on the striker’s rehabilitation. The club is keen to avoid rushing the process, prioritizing long-term fitness over a hasty comeback.
