After a 43-day wait, Corinthians returned with a 1-1 draw against Cascavel in a friendly in the interior of Paraná. Globo.com reports that Fernando Diniz used different line-ups in each half and the display did little to inspire.
The first-half side comprised Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho, André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista, Matheus Bidu, Raniele, André, Breno Bidon, Rodrigo Garro, Kaio César and Yuri Alberto.
After the interval, Kauê started behind Pedro Milans, André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista and Fabrizio Angileri, with Allan, Matheus Pereira, André Carrillo and Labyad supporting Jesse Lingard and Pedro Raul. Felipe Longo later replaced Kauê, Alex Santana came on for Ramalho and Charles for Gabriel Paulista.
Kaio César attacked his markers and fashioned promising one-on-ones, the most assertive outlet before being withdrawn at half-time with most starters. Jesse Lingard, from the left, found space but his choices slowed play and his crosses failed to reach Pedro Raul.
On the right, Carrillo added depth and controlled tempo with neat passes, creating the move for Corinthians’ goal with a fine cross. Matheus Pereira delivered his first good outing under Diniz, scoring from a rebound on the edge of the area and supplying an excellent cross not converted by Charles.
Tested at centre-back, Charles struggled, his failure to clear in the second half led to Cascavel’s goal as he appealed for a foul. Gabriel Paulista wrestled with the poor pitch, misplacing build-up passes in safe areas, though he competed well in duels on the deck and in the air.
