Corinthians players were confronted by angry supporters outside CT Joaquim Grava on Monday afternoon after training. Several squad members stopped to talk and were met with hostile and threatening language.
According to Globo.com, forwards Vitinho and Kaio César and midfielders Charles and Raniele engaged with the group at the exit, where tensions flared.
Those addressing Raniele accused the team of treating matters lightly and insisted they were not joking, reminding him he was playing for Corinthians.
Kaio César, currently in the medical department with inflammation in his right thigh muscle, told the group he was not playing, yet the criticism continued with warnings of consequences if they lose on Sunday.
Vitinho, a reserve, was also targeted. He tried to open a dialogue but the pressure made that impossible.
The Sunday fixture referenced is the clássico against Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Before that, the team face Platense in Argentina on Thursday in their Conmebol Libertadores opener.
Amid a run of nine games without a win, Corinthians have dismissed head coach Dorival Júnior and appointed Fernando Diniz. The new manager is due to be presented on Tuesday and to take charge on Thursday.
