Corinthians prepare for Memphis birthday party with Matrix-themed dress code | OneFootball

Memphis Depay turns 32 on Friday 13 February and has planned a Matrix-inspired party for Corinthians, inviting the entire squad, coaching staff and club employees.

According to Meu Timao, the No 10 set a futuristic theme and asked guests to wear black to match the film’s aesthetic.

After the 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino, Gabriel Paulista joked he had to avoid outshining Memphis and said he had already chosen his outfit. He recalled joining one of his parties in Madrid while they were team-mates at Atlético de Madrid, saying it was great to attend.

This will be Gabriel’s first birthday event with Memphis in Brazil, as he arrived this season and missed the 31st, held in 2025 with a royalty-themed gala. The pair also marked the date together in 2024 at Atlético de Madrid.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza admitted the all-black brief had been tricky and said his fiancée would make the final call on his look after shopping during the match.

Unlike Gabriel, he attended last year’s gala at Palácio dos Cedros in Ipiranga. Matheus Bidu was there too and teased a surprise for Friday’s event.

Once the party is done, Corinthians turn to the final group game in the Campeonato Paulista, facing São Bernardo FC at 20:30 on Sunday at Estádio Primeiro de Maio, needing a straightforward win to reach the knockouts without help elsewhere.
