Corinthians rise to third after 1-1 draw at Cruzeiro | OneFootball

Corinthians drew 1-1 with Cruzeiro at Mineirão on Wednesday in round four of the Campeonato Brasileiro. According to Meu Timao, the draw left Dorival Júnior’s side third on seven points.

They had a chance to go top, needing a win in Belo Horizonte and slips elsewhere. Even without victory, they rose two places, from fifth to a 2027 Libertadores berth.

The stalemate let the early leaders pull away. São Paulo and Palmeiras both won and share first on 10 points, with Palmeiras ahead on tiebreak.

Corinthians lead a pack featuring Bahia, Fluminense, Athletico Paranaense and Red Bull Bragantino. Grêmio sit on six, with Chapecoense and Mirassol completing the top half.

Flamengo and Coritiba sit on four points, with Botafogo, Vitória and Remo on three. Atlético Mineiro, Internacional and Cruzeiro have two, while Vasco da Gama and Santos are bottom on one and meet on Thursday at 19:00.

Three fixtures were postponed due to Flamengo, Botafogo and Bahia’s continental duties, leaving games in hand. Corinthians next play in the league on 11 March, hosting Coritiba at Neo Química Arena. Before then, they face Novorizontino in the Paulista semi-final on Saturday at 20:30 at the Jorjão.
