Corinthians have sacked Lucas Piccinato as head coach of their women’s team in the early hours of Saturday. The club said in a statement that he departs after a draw with Fluminense in the Brasileirão Feminino.

The result at Neo Química Arena came in the second round of the competition. Despite having a player advantage from the first half, the Brabas conceded and were held 2-2 by the Rio side.

Assistant Brenno Basso, goalkeeping coach Francisco Rodrigues and fitness coach Luiz Guilherme Gonçalves also leave.

Piccinato took charge of the Brabas in December 2023, succeeding Arthur Elias, who now leads the women’s national team.

During his time at the club, he won two Brasileiros, two Libertadores and a Supercopa Feminina.

Most recently, he oversaw a world runners-up finish, the Brabas beaten in the final by Arsenal in London.
