Corinthians trained on the newly relaid Neo Química Arena pitch, preparing for Remo on Thursday at 19:30 in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Unusually, Fernando Diniz switched the session from CT Dr. Joaquim Grava to the stadium to assess the surface, relaid over the past month to restore the 2014 World Cup standard. According to Meu Timao, the opening minutes were open to the media and the turf looked in excellent condition.
Diniz had almost his full squad, with only left-back Hugo Farias and forward Vitinho out as they continue physical transition. Goalkeepers Hugo Souza, Felipe Longo, Kauê and Matheus Corrêa, from the Under-20s, led off with passing drills.
Centre-back Gustavo Henrique was the first outfield player after missing the friendly on the 12th against FC Cascavel. João Pedro Tchoca, back from inguinal hernia surgery, and Kaio César followed.
A passing warm-up by the North goal preceded three-team small-sided games. Rodrigo Garro and Breno Bidon acted as floaters, with emphasis on quick circulation and possession.
Defenders and midfielders then worked separately from the forwards, who received wide deliveries to control and finish. Pedro Raul stood out, scoring repeatedly with right foot, left foot and headers.
In the final open block, defenders in yellow faced midfielders and forwards without bibs, who kept the ball before finishing. Media were asked to leave. Corinthians return to CT Dr. Joaquim Grava on Tuesday morning.
The club have last-16 ties to come, Internacional in the Copa do Brasil and Rosario Central in the Libertadores.
