Frank Lampard’s side clinched top spot ahead of Ipswich Town, comfortably finishing 11 points clear of the Suffolk outfit.

The Sky Blues have ended a 25-year absence from the top flight, and will now be looking to build a team capable of surviving in the division long-term.

This summer could prove a busy period at the CBS Arena, with Lampard set to utilise the transfer market in order to bolster the first team squad.

He will be hoping to receive the proper backing of owner Doug King, with investment needed in order to compete at the highest level.

However, the club will take solace from the success of Leeds United and Sunderland, who have both retained their Premier League status after gaining promotion last season.

It has been reported by Teamtalk that Coventry have received a boost in their bid to sign Mason Mount this summer.

It is understood that Manchester United are open to letting the 27-year-old go this summer, and that they could even agree to a loan deal.

The midfielder’s wages have been seen as a stumbling block in the Sky Blues’ attempt to lure him to the CBS Arena.

However, the Premier League side reportedly recognise that expense of Mount’s salary, and could be willing to accept a temporary exit.

The Red Devils would be open to agreeing an option or obligation clause as part of any loan deal, but it’s not expected to be integral to any upcoming talks.

It’s been claimed that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing the former Chelsea player, but that his wages have led to no firm offers being received.

Mount is also set to receive an increase in his salary as a result of Man United qualifying for the Champions League next season.

He is believed to be happy at Old Trafford, but he has struggled for consistent game time since making the move from Stamford Bridge in 2023.

The 27-year-old has suffered from a number of injury issues that have kept him out of the side, although he enjoyed a resurgence in form in the first half of this campaign under Ruben Amorim.

But the arrival of Michael Carrick as interim manager has seen him fall down the pecking order, with his first start only coming last weekend against Sunderland.

Loan deal for Mason Mount could suit all parties

Mount working Lampard again would surely be appealing given how well that partnership gelled at both Derby County and Chelsea in the past.

A loan move also makes the most sense, as it’s difficult to see Man United being able to generate a market for a permanent exit.

While he could still be of use to Carrick next season, it is likely to be a busy summer at Old Trafford where midfield is expected to be a key priority in their transfer business, which could lead to Mount falling even further down the pecking order.

So it would be a smart deal for all parties if he went on loan to Coventry for the season in order to prove his fitness and get back to his best, and he could help Lampard’s side survive in the division.
