Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly become the first billionaire footballer after agreeing a new Al-Nassr contract in the Saudi Pro League. At the club he earns the highest average annual pay for a sportsperson.
Bloomberg has claimed his net worth stands at USD 1.4 billion. The report says the 40-year-old earned more than USD 550 million in European salaries between 2002 and 2023.
A decade-long Nike agreement pays around USD 18 million a year, while further deals with Armani and Castrol have added more than USD 175 million to his wealth.
Since joining Al-Nassr in 2023, he has earned about USD 200 million annually in tax-free salary and bonuses, with a USD 30 million signing bonus also included.
A contract extension signed in June 2025 was reportedly the deal that pushed him past the billion mark. It is said to be worth more than USD 400 million and to include a 15% stake in Al-Nassr.
With more than 660 million Instagram followers, plus substantial property holdings and business interests, Ronaldo is set to remain among the world’s top earners long after retirement.
