Cristiano Ronaldo explains Almeria investment after acquiring 25% stake
Cristiano Ronaldo said his Almeria investment reflects his ambition to shape football beyond the pitch.
Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo captain of Al Nassr has commented on his decision to acquire 25% of Spanish club Almeria.
In official statement released on Thursday, Almeria confirmed that Ronaldo invested through his company CR7 SPORTS INVESTMENT joining the club’s ownership group led by SMC Group.
According to the club’s announcement, Ronaldo joined the ownership alliance chaired by Saudi businessman Mohammed Al-Khereiji.
The deal sees Ronaldo purchase his shares as part of wider investment plan aimed at supporting Almeria’s long-term growth.
Speaking via Almeria’s official account on X, Ronaldo said his ambition has always included contributing to football away from the pitch. He added that Almeria have strong base and clear potential to grow and expressed his desire to work closely with the club’s management in the next phase.
Almeria currently compete in Spain’s second division and sit third in the table, just two point behind leaders Racing Santander.
The club remains firmly in the promotion race making the timing of the investment significant.
Ronaldo’s involvement is expected to boost Almeria’s profile and add experience at ownership level even though he will not take part in day-to-day sporting decisions.
Ronaldo is no stranger to Spanish football. He spent nine seasons in La Liga with Real Madrid joining from Manchester United in 2009 and becoming one of the league’s most successful players.
