Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo faces a lengthy spell out after a significant muscle setback, raising concerns for club and country.
According to Goal.com, tests after he limped off with thigh pain revealed a significant tear in the back of his right thigh, ruling him out of immediate fixtures including Neom. He used his private jet to reach the Spanish capital to see his long-term medical team, a trip made amid heightened regional tension.
Jesus said internal testing showed the damage was more serious than first expected. He added that rest and recovery are required, with treatment to be overseen by the specialist who works with Ronaldo.
Early reports suggest a minimum four-week lay-off, placing his involvement in Portugal’s upcoming friendlies against Mexico and the United States in doubt as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
Domestically, Al-Nassr’s rhythm has already been disrupted, with their recent Asian Champions League 2 tie against Al Wasl postponed amid regional instability.
His rehabilitation will be closely monitored with a view to returning for the business end of the Saudi domestic season. The club’s medical staff will liaise with his specialist team to see if the 41-year-old can beat the four-week prognosis, while aiming not to drop points in a packed schedule.
