Crystal Palace will demand the bidding starts at £80m for Adam Wharton after Liverpool enquired about the midfielder.

Liverpool want Wharton as part of a midfield refresh this summer, with doubts over the futures of Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister. Jones will enter the final 12 months of his deal in the summer and Aston Villa are monitoring his situation.

Palace accept that Wharton could look to leave Selhurst Park, if the Eagles fail to secure European football.

The Eagles are 13th in the Premier League, six points adrift of the top seven. However, Palace could secure Europa League football by winning the Europa Conference League, with the South Londoners set to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have enquired for Wharton, who is keen to play Champions League football.

There’s an understanding between the player and Palace that he can leave if a suitable offer arrives, with Palace valuing the midfielder at £80m.

Manchester United and Arsenal have also been named as potential destinations for the 22-year-old.
